This covers the foundational basics of scene investigations for death and serious bodily injury (SBI) cases, as a civil or criminal defense investigator. Understanding the importance, what to look for, and what to expect to find in the official investigations are talked about.
As a civil or criminal defense investigator, you are not responding to the scene. As such, the discussions of the full scene processing and evidence collection process is not discussed; however, the components and their importance are. This will further enhance the student’s skills, whether a new or veteran investigator.
There are various important considerations to the case, and the scene investigation is integral. How to conduct a post-incident investigation at the scene, and how information and evidence can redefine a case are discussed.
